Serving your country is a great honour, and there’s perhaps no greater moment than this, except the birth of your baby.
Brandon Phillips is a member of the U.S Air Force and is currently expecting a bouncing baby with wide Veronica. Unfortunately, Brandon has been deployed overseas for months. From watching her belly grow to feel the little kicks of his baby, his missed most of Veronica’s pregnancy.
Despite thousands of miles separating them, Veronica wasn’t about to let him miss out on the most “important” moments in the pregnancy – the professional maternity shoot.
“I had seen many photos where people were Photoshopped in, and I have Photoshopped siblings together before to look like one seamless picture,” explained photographer Jennifer McMahon of Jennifer Ariel Photography, who conducted the photo shoot that has since gone viral. “After playing around with several edits for a few days and many hours of editing, I posted the one I thought told the best story and would evoke emotion in all who saw it.”
The image is stunning, combining two separate images, the photo shows Brandon – in his military get-up against a desert backdrop – kneeling on one knee with one hand reaching out, seemingly touching Veronica’s pregnant belly.
“I wanted to honour my husband, and even though we are a far distance from each other, we are close in this picture,” said Veronica, who is a 29-year-old social worker. “It symbolises our love and commitment from afar.”
Brandon has said that while he won’t be able to be able to cut the cord or be in the delivery room for the birth, he plans to be there in spirit, something that this picture captures perfectly. But fear not all you romantics, while Brandon won’t be able to be there physically, the couple will be skyping the birth.
This mommy was so sweet, and her story touched my heart. Her husband is thousands of miles away serving our country. He is missing his beautiful wife’s pregnancy, and will be missing the birth of his baby. Thank you to our military for sacrificing for our country. #miami #military #sewtrendyaccessories #photographer #maternity #lovewhatmatters #ellendegeneres #militarywife #militarylife
