Dave Wottle is a retired American middle-distance track athlete who went on to win the 800m run at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich. While the achievement is something to celebrate, it’s the manner in which Wottle had won the race that is so inspiring. The injury had hindered Wottle’s training leading up to the Olympics, but this obstacle didn’t stop him from taking part in the race.
