Food That Inspires, For Sure

What’s that famous saying that our parents always told us? – Don’t play with your food? Malaysian artist Hong Yi, who has nicknamed herself Red, has decided to completely ignore this by creating beautiful works of art made entirely from food.

This ingenious artist has created fun illustrations made from foods that anyone can find in their pantry; although we’re not sure everyone can create a tiger made from carrot sticks. For an entire month, Hong Yi decided to push her creativity to new heights by creating this food series, depicting stunning works of art that make use of jelly beans, dragon fruit and cherry tomatoes.

When asked what inspired her to start her food series, Hong Yi says: “If you want something you’ve never had, do something you’ve never done; it was this quote that drove me to start my portraits with unusual materials, and also my current creativity with food.”
